Sis. Carrietta Butts
Carrietta has been a member of Flat Rock AME Church for 20 years. She works as the Administrative Coordinator for the church, assists Pastor Johnson and as a Steward, oversees the spiritual environment and financial health of the church.
Carrietta accepted Christ at the age of 12 and has faithfully devoted herself to the building of God’s Kingdom. She started out in her youth as an usher, assisted her mother with the acolytes, and sang in the choir. As a rebellious YPD’er, she was an advocate for change and inclusion of youth in the AME church. As an adult she continued to use her gifts to God’s glory in the choir and directed the children’s choir. With her talents in gardening and design, Sister Butts has headed the landscaping committee for the newly built sanctuary at Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
As a certified Global Career Developer, EMT Facilitator, Sis. Butts shares her knowledge with the youth providing training in social behavior and etiquette. As an administer, she managed a small firm in Kansas City and went on to manage the Career Resource Center at Georgia State University. For 12 years, she assisted students with career choices, the preparation of interviews and job fairs.
As a woman with multiple talents (floral designs, an event planner, a seamstress, and a want-to-be-chef), Sister Butts believes that God still has plans for her.
Sis. Butts is married to Dwight Butts and they have 3 children: Damien, Alexia and Tiffany; 2 grandchildren: Isaac and Naomi. She is a floral designer, and an event planner, a seamstress, and a want-to-be chef. She believes that God still has a plan for her. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 51: 10-11; 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
