Anna Brooks Singleton
Anna Brooks Singleton is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, educator, and friend. Anna is the daughter of Annette Brooks Lusk and Julius Kennerson, the youngest of six. She was born and raised in Clinton, LA (25 miles outside of Baton Rouge, LA) where she attended public school and continued her education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA majoring in Business Administration and Applied Piano.
She has been employed with the Fayette County School System for the past 15 years as a Technology Specialist. Anna has over 40 years of experience in the music ministry, playing the piano and organ for churches since the age of 12. She never wanted to be “just the musician” of a church, but an integral part of the growth of the entire ministry. Her talents have allowed her to serve as Minister of Music, Director of Music, and staff musician for various churches in the U.S. and Germany.
While living in Europe, she was blessed to tour professionally with the Golden Gospel Singers of Harlem, NY. Additionally, she is the founder of the Starlight Gospel Singers of Clinton, LA which she organized at the age of 15 and the Southern Regional Gospel Chorus which she organized while attending college. She also prides herself on being the founder and Musical Director of the Sandy Creek High School award winning gospel choir.
She states that her biggest accomplishments in life are being a supportive wife of 29 years to (Retired) LTC John F. Singleton and and a loving mother to her children Ariel (24) and John II (21). Anna takes her ministry in music very seriously. She realizes that it is not only a gift from God but also a calling on her life. Her excellence in her profession has allowed her to be able to touch the lives of other through workshop and clinics where she is able to educate musicians and singers regarding topics such as professionalism in the music ministry, financial literacy, and the importance of knowing the basics of music, etc.
Anna can be found each Sunday at Flat Rock AME Church in Fayetteville, GA pastored by Mayor Elect Edward Johnson, where she is the Director of Music. When she is not making music, she can be found in the gym or just relaxing at home with her beloved Maltipoo Tiana by her side.
