Edwin J. Johnson

Edwin Jay Johnson was born in San Diego, California.  Due to his parents’ military service he lived in Rhode Island, Virginia, Florida and settled in Fayetteville, Georgia where he graduated from Fayette County High School in 1998.  He is the eldest of two sons born to Rev. Edward and Dr. Vanessa Johnson.

Currently, Edwin is an active and faithful member of Flat Rock A.M.E. Church in Fayetteville, Georgia, under the leadership of his father, Pastor Ed Johnson.  He was baptized in the name of Jesus July 2014.  Edwin accepted his call to ministry May 2019 and serves as a Licentiate Minister at Flat Rock A.M.E. Church.  He continues to do God’s work by singing in the Voices of Inspiration, Radical Praise, and Men’s choir and serving as a Sunday School teacher, VBS instructor, Young People’s Department Director, and worship leader.  Moreover, he desires to motivate young men to have integrity, be gentlemen, become successful, and live out their purpose.  Hence, he is active in the Men’s Mentoring Program, Encouraging the New Generation of Aspiring Gentlemen through Exposure (E.N.G.A.G.E).

Edwin believes in living a purposeful well-balanced life. In pursuing a life of excellence, he is a respectful son, loving husband, nurturing father, positive role model, and a mentor to many.  Moreover, he enjoys playing golf, working on cars, and spending time with family and friends. His ultimate desire is to please God, be an obedient servant, and minister in love to his family. The scripture that guides his life is, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

He is blessed to share and create life’s memories with his loving wife, Joy Cherie’ Johnson, and their three beautiful daughters Erin Janelle (10), Jamie Ciara (8), and Cayla Janae (5).  He is grateful to God for the love and support he receives from his family, extended family, Flat Rock A.M.E. Church family, and everyone who has contributed to his success in life.
