Reverend Cherrye Bess-Branch
Reverend Cherrye Bess-Branch is originally from Tallahassee, Florida. She attended and graduated from Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida on a full ride music scholarship to sing, record and travel with the Bethune Cookman College world renowned Concert Chorale.
Rev. Bess worked at Florida A &M University for 17 years. She hosted two radios shows and sang in the Work For Higher R&B Band. She met and married Sgt. James R. Branch. They have 6 children.
After answering her call to preach and going through the AME Board of Examiners, she moved her entire family to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) for dual Masters in Divinity and Church Music. Rev. Bess continues her studies in the Doctor of Ministry program at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. She recently completed her first unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Ga. where she serves as Chaplain. She plans to continue this chaplaincy training program thru levels I and II to become head Chaplain at a hospital, university and/or prison.
Cherrye Bess has recorded 12 gospel music and clean comedy CD's and DVD's. She has traveled far and wide singing and playing for the Lord. She is a play writer and a songwriter. As a additional hobby, she loves making jewelry.
Cherrye Bess-Branch is currently the chair of the Banneker High School Governance Counsel and Vice President of PTA. She serves on the Fulton County Public Library Friends Board and an active community member of the New City of South Fulton.
She is the Director of Music for several churches on the South Atlanta District.
She loves being a mom and a grandmom.
